Starting it Right!
We have all seen the news shows, Opera, Dr. Phil, Men are from...; as well as the statistics stating that 60% of first marriages and 70% of second marriages end in divorce. Affairs: 60% of married women and 70% of married men. You can meet online at match, E-harm, love online, sex online. Is divorce online far behind?
At the Center for Family Development we are offering a month-long (meeting once a week) couples workshop called Starting it Right that can help you avoid the pitfalls commonly encountered by almost all couples. Through a series of talks, excersises, and sharing sessions, you can exponentially increase the success you and your loved-one can share as a couple.
- Introduction: The trainers, the participants.
- Genogram: a family systems approach to looking at the family you grew up in, your contemporary family (you as a couple), as well as your family legacy, issues, strengths and weaknesses. How to avoid common pitfalls and traps.
- How to set goals as an individual and as a couple to maximize strenghts.
- How to determine roles so individual, couple, and family goals are met.
- Communication: how to talk, how to fight fair (productive disagreement), finances, and SEX: the ultimate communication. Learning to communicate effectively improves sex. (Size does matter, learn how!)
- Learn how to have your needs met.
This workshop will be co-led by Licensed Psychologist Susan Worth and Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist, Ernest Glazer. Let us know if you are interested or need any more information.
