The Teen Group
The Center is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Teen Group. This annual, ongoing therapy group is directed towards all teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18, and who are currently attending middle or high school. We are especially interested in students in public, private, or parochial schools from the Abington, Cheltenham, Hatboro-Horsham, Methacton, North Penn, Springfield, Upper Dublin, Wissahickon, Upper and Lower Moreland, Souderton, and Pennridge areas. Students from other areas are welcome to attend as well.
Teen Group meetings will be led by Ernie Glazer, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist with over 28 years of experience working with adolescents and their families. The group may be co-facilitated by a female therapist also specially trained in working with teens. The Center may offer two groups: one for older teens and one for younger adolescents.
The group will address some of the typical issues of the adolescent passage to adulthood such as: relationships with parents, siblings, peers, dating, sex, sexuality and responsibility, school and career plans, self esteem, identity issues, depression, motivation or lack of it, drug and alcohol abuse, fitting in, divorce, separation, family disruption, blended families, loss, and emancipation or leaving home in the appropriate way.
Also, if appropriate, issues of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, adoption, loss, violence, and social issues, as they apply to adolescents will be addressed in a safe and supportive environment.
The group is planning to meet on Monday or Friday afternoons for 1 ½ hours. Start time is not set due to transportation issues but will be approximately from 4:00 to 5:30 weekly. We will meet in the group room at The Center.
For more information about the group, fees, possible insurance coverage, or to enroll, call Ernie at 215-659-9199 or The Center at 215-830-8430. Individual consultations are also available for parents or teens.
A pre-teen group is also in the planning stages for children 8 to 12. |
